SEASCAPE PAINTINGS OF BOATS IN HARBOUR
REFLECTIONS ON THAT PERFECT DAY

Contemplation - seascape paintings

While constantly experimenting with mixed media and a wide range of subjects, this alumni of Chelsea College Of Art And Design in London is always drawn back to water - often painting on wood, its texture working with the acrylics to bring a particular beauty to these tranquil paintings with their shimmering reflections.

The tide creeps in

Who cannot fail to be moved by the memories of a walk along the seashore?

Seascape paintings Or an afternoon stroll along the harbour's edge, where fishing boats bob gently on the gentle swell after their early morning trip, with only the fresh smell of seaweed a sign of their recent activity? Seascape paintings

Each habour scene has a different story to tell, but always of the calm after the storm. The tales of high seas drama are told around the fireplace, safe in the fishermans pub. But only the high prows and frayed ropes of the boats provide a clue to the perils they have faced over the countless years that fisherman have braved the weather and set out to sea from these harbour walls.

How different from the fishing boats is the old cabin cruiser tied up to the rickety jetty on a beautiful mirror calm lake. No high seas here, but doubtless plenty of high adventure have been seen through the generations. With only the water's reflection of that faded hull bringing back those memories of family picnics on the opposite shore.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Seascapes artist After studying at Chelsea College Of Art And Design in London, this artist has experimented widely with photography and mixed media, but has a particular passion for painting seascapes in acrylics - often on wood. Regularly selling art at exhibitions around the UK as well as taking commissions, the artist has been rewarded with 'Featured Artist' accolades.

In addition to exhibitions, this artist sells through local stores, and has provided the artwork of exhibition posters and even for local bands and concerts.

However, most of of the artwork are of seascapes, boats and landscapes with a strong focus on water and reflections, The colours and patterns that result from the reflections fascinate, and give a distorted view of a real picture. With water the focus when the real picture is that of hundreds of people getting on with their every day lives - the boats, harbours and buildings in the background reflect back at us from the water in the foreground.
