Striving to rise above the ravaishes of war and suffering - oh why do we humans makes conflict our burden - our true colours find ways to shine through.

These paintings are inspired by memories and emotions - captured in portraits of people whose faces have stories to tell. Some will make you laugh while others are more thought provoking and dramatic. What are they really thinking? What have they seen? What experiences can they share?

Oh I see a famous face or two, but do I have the full picture? What is it that I cannot see and what is this painting trying to tell me? Again, the texture of the oil and the strokes of the palette knife bring an added dimension to these portaits of people you though you knew.

INSPIRATIONS

"I love expressionism and impressionism. I have travelled all over the world to different galleries and enjoy viewing great works of art. I was mainly inspired to paint by my travels in Asia after seeing diverse characters and cultures. I am particular inspired by Indian subjects."

THE PAINTING TECHNIQUE

"My paintings have a textured feel where I use oil paints that are put on the canvas thickly with a palette knife." They are all painted on canvas and are best displayed naturally without frames. A light varnish is sprayed over the finished painting about 6 months after completion." These paintings are truly a labour of love.

Smallest is 25 x 30cm ranging up to 100 x 75cm. It would take about 2 weeks to produce a painting of a standard size as a commission.

LIFE IS GOOD

Life is good. Life is good indeed - I'll drink to that. Chill a little - life is not that bad. Look around and you will see inspiration. In a drink, a flower a fleeting look or an expression of anquish... what a life the young have ahead of them. A life that can be captured in oils the way no photograph can.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

The artist has been painting for the last 5 years, with exhibits in local galleries and exhibitions in the Sounth of England; recently winning a competition in a Kent Life Magazine.

Having experimented with different mediums and subjects, the artist has found he always returns to oil portraits. Recently he has started a collaboration with another artist to expand his portfolio.
