Client's brief: Although not on most people's mind, the client briefing is one of the most important aspects of a successful shoot. It is only by understanding exactly what is required, that the skilled photographer can project the required emotions though the finished work. Students will be taught how to interpret a brief, and translated the client's thoughts and feelings into perfect images. Supporting professionals: Having understood the brief, the process of casting for models, and working with stylists, hair and make-up artists as well as location selection are critical skills that can be taught, before the more obvious aspects of studio set-up can be considered. These preliminary steps go a long way to elevate the final images to professional standard and differentiate the image from that of an amature photographer. Staging: Artistic elements of the staging will be covered, to include the use of studio space, lighting and props. The scene is then set to start work with the camera. The shoot: The workshop will cover the shoot itself, focusing on how to direct the model and to create the synergy between subject and photographer that is the essence of quality nude, glamour and fashion photography. All students will have an opportunity to develop their directing skills one-to-one with a professional model |
Day 2 to builds on the skills and techniques covered on Day1. Advanced lighting and direction: More time will be devoted to exploring lighting techniques, and to the developing the creative brief with more precision through set and model direction. Image processing: Time will then be devoted to the process of organising your digital image files (not an insignificant problem when shooting hundreds of shots in quick succession) , followed by Adobe Photoshop image manipulation and re-touching. Presenting you portfolio: The day will conclude with a session on how to present your portfolio to the client and to potential new clients. Further time will also be spent shooting one-to-one with a professional model, so that the students can leave with a rich portfolio of images, from which to experiment with their newly learned skills. |
