Currently working from a studio in London and drawing on his international experiences, he explores the relationship between the individual and nationality, through his work that is concerned with the nature of identity.
A Scotsman by birth, he has now lived away from Scotland for many years. By looking back to his formative years, he is able to contrast his emotions from living in other countries. An intense awareness of his Scottish background has caused him to analyse the political, cultural and social elements that define the Scottish culture and its inextricable links with tartan.
The reassessment of identity through fine art is timely and highly relevant in the world today, where the importance of a sense of place and identity has seldom been more important to the individual.

Children's book illustrator and painter: This well known author and illustrator of childrens books is also a painter who often chooses to paint on recovered wood. Her humorous view of the world brings a magical quality to the many childrens books that she has illustrated. Trained in London, her eye for the inner humour and an ability to characterise the personality of birds, animals and people make her art accessible to adults too, and very collectable. Her paintings on wood bring a three dimensional touch to interior design and living, as well as creating lasting childhood memories. The quirky sculptures and mosaics that adorn her house in France, reflect the passion of an artist, to draw out the art in everything around her.

His mixed media art is sought by curators and by art collectors, and these though inspiring images are also used in commercial applications.
