A regular contributor to zines in the US and Holland, his black and white comic strips avoid super heros and stereotype images of scantily clad women of unnatural proportions, in favour of the development of more believable characterisations with instant familiarity - we can all recognise the personality traits and behaviour patterns that are accentuated in his trade-mark angular style. The sample comic strips below are not legible on this page, but are show to illustrate the style. Slightly larger versions, although still heavily compressed for the web, can be viewed in the Cartoonist's Art Gallery

COLOUR CARTOONS FOR ADVERTISING

Advertising commissions commonly require colour. So comic strips and cartoons have been drawn and coloured to help promote company information and product adverts in a humorous and memorable way.

Cartoons provide a uniquely informative and accessible means of communication that is recognised by marketers and publishers alike. Cartoons are of particular value in educational books, where it can be a struggle to capture the wandering attention of a child... after-all, this cartoonist will readily admit to whileing away many an unfathomable Latin lesson drawing cartoons!

Similar, a sharply observed cartoon can capture attention and achieve information retention in the workplace and advertising, in a way that no other medium can. The series of commissioned cooking instructions drawn as humorous comic strips, is a perfect example of cartoons in 'education'.

The cartoonist is currently engaged in a project to scan all his original drawings into a computer and colour them. It could take some time to do them all, but for publishers it means that any one of the existing monotone cartoons in stock can now be coloured to order if required.

ORIGINAL CARTOONS

The cartoonist has a very large stock of cartoons that have been drawn over many years while living in London England and near Tokyo in Japan, although one large painting has been lost. Originally working in pen and ink, the cartoonist has also used acetate overlays and introduced colour with acrylic, oils and more recently by computer.

Recent commissions include humorous cartoons for a production company and cartoons for an advertising campaign. A record company also commissioned the post-card cartoon of 'The girl who couldn't hula' to be re-drawn for the cover of a CD by Da Surfones, who also recorded a track by the same name.
